When routine daily cleaning no longer provides adequate results a more aggressive deep cleaning is required to thoroughly clean the floor. Remove the cleaning solution using a wet vacuum or a mop. While rubber is very durable with normal wear and tear using harsh chemicals for routine cleaning can crack and deteriorate your rubber. Cleaning vinyl floors requires a straightforward cleaning routine. Coarse scrubbing media or harsh cleaning chemicals may damage the surface of the wall base.

Some solvents and acids can soften or erode rubber flooring if used regularly. If your rubber flooring was installed with adhesive you should not clean it in any way for at least 72 hours after installation in order to give the adhesive time to get a firm hold. Johnsonite rubber and vinyl wall base is maintained with regular wiping with a soft wet cloth. Johnsonite recommends some ph neutral cleaners for cleaning rubber flooring because they will not affect the natural chemical makeup of the material or strip away the protective finish.
